Transfusion Medicine Section

Represent the interests of individual members of the AABB who are concerned with the administrative, quality/regulatory, medical, scientific and technical aspects of transfusion medicine.

Cellular Therapies Section

Assist in providing guidance to the association and its membership on critical issues relating to cellular therapies, including umbilical cord blood, regenerative medicine and somatic cells.

AABB Committees are a vital link to the success of the association! Our committees and volunteers help ensure that the information and knowledge that we share with the membership, public and media is timely and accurate.

If you are interested in serving on one of our committees, please complete the Committee Volunteer Form. Your information will be kept on file for three years.

Additionally, committees are in search of qualified Junior Committee Members to fill standing positions on all AABB committees! To be eligible you must be an AABB Student member, or an individual member with less than two years of membership and no previous experience serving on an AABB committee, task force or working group. Are you an AABB Student member or an individual member with less than two years of membership looking to become more involved with the Association? AABB is taking applications for Junior Committee members. The Junior Committee Member is a standing position on all committees and is an ideal opportunity to:

• Gain experience while working within AABB committees.
• Contribute to important committee deliverables as identified by the AABB Board of Directors.
• Network and learn from fellow AABB committee members.
• Learn how AABB develops policy and positions.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a current AABB Student member, or individual member with less than two years of membership, and
• Have not yet served on an AABB committee, Task Force or Working Group.

Looking for a fun way to get involved in AABB? The AABB Mentoring Program may be right for you. This six-month informal program matches experienced professionals with those who are new to the field. Expand your professional network, exchange information and ideas, and build lasting friendships. Interested members are invited to complete and return the application to PEP@aabb.org.

Critical discussions on important issues in the blood and biotherapies community regularly transpire on the AABB Community, the Association’s online member forum. AABB encourages members to subscribe to their group(s) of choice and join in the conversation. Subscribing enables members to respond to or start a thread directly from their email inbox. AABB volunteers are engaged in a variety of activities within the Association. They play an integral role in the work of AABB and we celebrate their accomplishments. Our "Volunteer Spotlight," published in AABB News, highlights the work of individuals making a difference and showcases their involvement in our community.

In 1983, AABB launched the National Blood Foundation (NBF). For nearly 40 years, the NBF has been dedicated to advancing the field through critical funding for early-stage scientific research. From its early beginnings, improving the lives of patients and donors worldwide has been at the heart of the Foundation’s mission.

AABB relaunched the NBF as the AABB Foundation, a new name underscoring the expanding reach and growing importance of the Foundation’s work. This change celebrates all that the Foundation has accomplished in its history, while reaffirming its commitment to supporting the field.

The AABB Foundation continues the important work of funding early-stage investigators, while also expanding the ways in which we support innovative research and education for the field of blood and biotherapies.

Volunteer leaders are the lifeline of the Foundation’s work. Every new volunteer brings unique insights, bold ideas, and diverse skillsets that strengthen the Foundation’s impact. Deepen your engagement with the AABB Foundation and help us expand our reach!
