Program Description: Blood product shortages may often occur in association with holidays, severe weather, or other events that may temporarily impact blood collections. In this program, the faculty will review the role of Patient Blood Management as a strategy to mitigate the impact of low product inventories during times of blood product shortage, including both from the hospital and the blood collection center perspectives. The speakers will also recommend measures to address unexpected changes in inventory both short-term predictable and longer-term unanticipated (e.g., pandemic, disasters).
