Blood Products Availability

June 03, 2026

Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange.

Platelets

There is strong platelet availability nationwide. All reported needs are met within 24 hours.

Red Blood Cells

There is a moderate national surplus of A-positive and B-positive blood. However, the slow replenishment of O-positive and Rh-negative blood types is often an early sign of summertime decline.

Frozen Products

There are pockets of demand for type B and type AB fresh-frozen plasma, and a robust national supply readily accommodates usage. There is steady use of single cryoprecipitate and healthy quantities of pooled and single types are keeping pace with demand.

AABB's team of industry-trained professionals can help when inventory levels are seasonally low. AABB's National Blood Exchange is a partner benefit for all AABB institutional members.
