Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange.
National availability of platelets is strong. All known needs met within 24 hours.
There is a low-grade need for type O-negative blood in portions of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Otherwise, the availability of most other blood types is unseasonally strong.
There is steady use of single cryoprecipitate amid decreasing national quantities. Most types of fresh frozen plasma are plentiful, readily addressing all known needs. Demand for type AB is slowing, which allows donors and blood centers time to rebuild inventories before the next spike in usage.
