Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange.

Platelets

Demand for platelets is low and met within 24 hours due to strong nationwide availability.

Red Blood Cells

As summer travel slows across the U.S., demand for O-positive and B-negative blood is fluctuating. Other blood types remain in steady supply and are available for immediate sharing. Red blood cell availability typically improves heading into the fall.

A strong nationwide surplus of pooled cryoprecipitate continues to keep pace with demand. Single-donor cryoprecipitate, however, is becoming harder to source as production declines. Demand for type A, type B, and type AB FFP is scattered, but a moderate national surplus is meeting all needs.
