This year marks 15 years since I began working at the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB). I was a member of the Association well before joining the AABB staff. Looking back, I have many cherished memories, and I am grateful to those who have shared this journey. Reflecting on this anniversary allows me to appreciate past achievements and experiences while charting a course for future growth – and, of course, trying to come up with words that play on the word ‘cell.’

Colleagues Who Inspire: The Cell Mates You Always Wanted

Working alongside dedicated and talented professionals has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my time at AABB. My colleagues, both inside and outside the organization, are not just experts; they are passionate, supportive and always willing to share their knowledge, as well as friendship. This collaborative environment fosters mutual respect and continuous improvement, making every project a learning experience and strengthening our collective expertise—like being part of a superhero team, but with lab coats (or gowns) instead of capes—well, maybe in some cases, capes could be involved. We have a lot of superheroes!

One of my favorite memories is working with a team of our subject matter experts to develop the AABB Cellular Therapies (CT) Certificate Program. We designed the program to provide an overview of cellular therapies for those newer to the field. It was AABB’s first online educational program and was designed to be delivered in modules covering scientific, operational and regulatory information for CT professionals. We partnered with The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., —a collaboration that exceeded expectations. Weremain proud of our program, our teamwork and the wonderful relationships we built together. It’s moments like these that make me happy to be part of AABB and to have such opportunities.

AABB is a sanctuary for professionals, offering invaluable resources and support. The Association’s commitment to high standards, ethical practices and continuous learning has been crucial to my professional growth, first as a member, then as staff. Being part of this community fills me with pride and motivation. Together, we strive to make a real difference in patients’ lives and advance biotherapies. And where else can you find a place where cell talk is always welcome?

Gratitude and Excitement: Continuing the Cell-tastic Journey

I am indeed filled with gratitude for the experiences and relationships that have shaped my journey and am excited about the future and the continued path of AABB. The organization’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation will undoubtedly lead to even greater achievements in the years to come. I look forward to many more years of growth, collaboration, and making a difference together.

My personal wish is to continue growing alongside this amazing community and fostering even stronger relationships. Together, we will build, innovate, and make a lasting impact in the field of biotherapies. Just like Captain Kirk exploring new frontiers, I am ready to boldly go into the future. I cell-ute you. Beam me up, AABB! For non-Trekkies, feel free to insert your own pioneering hero here.

Wishing you a cell-tastic journey wherever you are!
