AABB is pleased to welcome Simon T. Bailey, an award-winning motivational speaker and author, as the keynote speaker of the 2022 AABB Annual Meeting, to be held Oct. 1-4 in Orlando, Fla.
Bailey has more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including serving as sales director for Disney Institute, and has worked with more than 1,800 organizations in 50 countries. He is the author of several business-related books, including Release Your Brilliance and Brilliant Living.
Bailey’s influence in promoting sustainable change in business has been widespread. LinkedIn Learning features three of his online courses, which reach professionals in more than 100 countries. His Goalcast video, released on Facebook, has garnered more than 90 million views worldwide. In addition, Bailey has been named one of the “Top 25 people who will help you reach your business and life goals” by Success Magazine, joining a list that includes Brené Brown, Tony Robbins and Oprah Winfrey. When he is not working, Simon serves as a board member for the U.S. Dream Academy and Orlando Health Foundation Board.
In his keynote speech, Bailey will explore challenges, uncertainty and the value of diversity in today's ever-changing workforce. He will also share how professionals in the blood and biotherapies field can leverage these challenges so that they can return to their facilities motivated and ready to inspire others. Bailey understands the pressure that leaders and high performers are facing in the midst of our uncertain times. His speech will offer simple, easy-to-implement strategies that can help to accelerate results.
Share Your Brilliance
AABB spoke with Bailey recently about his career and his strategies to help people achieve their optimal potential. He stressed that one of the tenets of his philosophy is “share your brilliance,” and he encourages everyone to share more of their unique personality and talents. He believes that in doing so, people will find more fulfillment in their careers and will better help their organizations achieve success.
“I encourage people to find something they can celebrate in themselves and their teammates, and to focus on what is being done right,” Bailey said. “When feedback comes from a place of gratitude, it more likely to be met with a positive disposition.”
Bailey said AABB Annual Meeting attendees can expect to hear his insights on thriving amidst challenges. “Attendees will walk away with the mindset, skillset and willpower to thrive wherever they find themselves now,” he said. “I’ll be sharing my top 5 skill sets needed to thrive, research on thriving, and advice on taking care of your own well-being and that of those around you.”
Bailey said he understand that the blood and biotherapies is facing several unique challenges, including workforce shortages – a topic on which he has focused in recent years. “My talk will highlight strategies to ensure that, even in the midst of workforce shortages, professionals remain productive in how they serve customers and achieve their mission,” Bailey said.
Bailey said he is also keen on helping organizations achieve what he calls the “next normal” as we move into new phases of the pandemic. “It’s important for leaders to understand what their colleagues are dealing with at this time and to understand everyone’s emotional bandwidth,” he said. “As we move on, it’s important for everyone to weigh in on the way forward. When people support and endorse policies and plans, they take ownership of them.”
