Blood Assurance Opens New Cellular Therapy Division

Blood Assurance, an AABB institutional member based in Knoxville, Tenn., held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday to celebrate the grand opening of a new cellular therapy division, The Tennessean reported this week.

The new division, called OurCel Solutions, is located in Nashville and is the first facility of its kind in Tennessee. The facility will act as a typical blood donation center, but donors there will also be able to give white blood cells via leukapheresis for use in research and the development of cellular therapies. Donors there can also participate in the “All of Us” Research Program, which is led by the National Institutes of Health and is seeking to build one of the most diverse health databases in history.
