The AABB23 social media champions are a group of social media power-users who will share their insights on can’t-miss sessions, practice-changing research, networking opportunities, special events and fun during the 2023 AABB Annual Meeting in Nashville.

Ahead of the meeting, AABB sat down with each of this year’s champions to discuss their careers, involvement with AABB and what they’re looking forward to learning and the blood banking and biotherapies community’s premier event.

When was your first AABB Annual Meeting?

2020

What are you most looking forward to at #AABB23?

I am most looking forward to the cellular therapy sessions and the discussion of hot topics in biotherapies. It's always exciting to learn about the latest developments and advancements in these areas.

What is one 2023 Annual Meeting session that you can't miss?

One of the #AABB23 Annual Meeting sessions that I cannot miss is the one I will be presenting on whole blood utilization in the civilian setting. Apart from that, I have also marked some other sessions related to cell therapy lab development, new techniques in cryopreservation and hot topics in transfusion medicine, such as platelet refractoriness.

Which Nashville attraction are you most excited to visit?

I am planning to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Radnor Lake State Park for a walk.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in transfusion medicine / biotherapies?

I actually feel like my career chose me, and I fell in love with it later on. I initially pursued a career in medicine, but as I learned more about transfusion medicine and biotherapies, I became increasingly interested in this field. I am amazed by the science behind it and the impact that it can have on patients' lives. It's an incredibly rewarding career, and I feel lucky to be able to work in this field

If I wasn't working in transfusion medicine or biotherapies, I would be a...
