Winter Haven Hospital Community Blood Center Transitions Operations to OneBlood

Winter Haven Hospital Community Blood Center (WHHCBC), an AABB institutional member located in Winter Haven, Fla., transitioned its operations to OneBlood on Feb. 26.

The blood center has been part of Winter Haven Hospital since 1953. Originally, WHHCBC served patients and hospitals in eastern Polk County, Fla. Recently, it has been the key supplier of blood products to Winter Haven Hospital and Winter Haven Women’s Hospital, part of the BayCare Health System.

OneBlood, an AABB institutional member based in Orlando, has been the blood provider for BayCare Health System’s other 14 hospitals in Florida and operates services for patient transfusion compatibility at two BayCare hospitals. As part of the transition, OneBlood will rebrand WHHCBC’s bloodmobiles, introduce an enhanced donor recognition program and launch a new website experience.
