AABB Nominating Committee Announces Slate of Candidates for 2024-25 Board of Directors

The AABB Nominating Committee is pleased to present the slate of candidates to serve as the Association’s 2024-25 Board of Directors. The slate includes the committee’s recommendations to fill both the open officer and open at-large board positions for the 2024-25 Association year.

The committee recommends the following members to serve as officers:

  • Jose Cancelas, MD, PhD, CABP, for president-elect.
  • Richard Schäfer, MD, FRSB, for vice president.
  • Delisa English, MBA, for secretary.

The committee recommends the following at-large board members for re-election:

  • Dawn Ward, MD, CABP, for position #3.
  • Suzie Thibodeaux, MD, PhD, CABP(H), for position #10.

The committee recommends the following at-large board members for election:

  • John Hagins for position #2.
  • Don Siegel, MD, PhD, for position #4.
  • Melissa Cushing, MD, for position #6.
  • Harpreet Sandhu, MSHS, MBA, for position #8.

After thoughtful deliberation, the AABB Nominating Committee selected a diverse and talented slate of individuals. As in recent years, the committee decided to put forward an unopposed slate. This carefully considered decision is consistent with best practices in association governance, particularly when striving to increase diversity and add new perspectives to leadership. The committee is confident that this year’s slate, together with the returning board members, comprises a group of members with rich and varied backgrounds that is optimally positioned to lead AABB with knowledge, commitment and experience.

Per AABB's bylaws, additional nominees for the open at-large director positions may be submitted using the petition process. Instructions for submitting a nomination by petition and related submission requirements are available on AABB's website. The deadline to submit nominations by petition is July 17 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

The membership will be asked to confirm the slate via election starting on Aug. 16 and closing on Sept. 13 with results published in September. The 2024-25 AABB Board of Directors will be installed during the 2024 AABB Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas, which will take place Oct. 19-22.
