CMS Releases State RFA for CGT Access Model

July 02, 2024

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the state request for applications (RFA) for the agency’s Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) Access Model on Friday. The CGT Access Model is a voluntary model for states and CGT manufacturers that tests whether a CMS-led approach to developing and administering outcomes-based agreements for cell and gene therapies improves Medicaid beneficiaries’ access to innovative treatment, improves their health outcomes and reduces health care costs and burdens to state Medicaid programs.

The state RFA is open to all states, the District of Columbia and all U.S. territories that participate in the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program. States may submit applications to participate after the agency communicates the negotiated key terms to all states in December. The application portal will be open from December 2024 to Feb. 28, 2025. Interested individuals may view the state RFA fact sheet for additional details.
