Carter BloodCare Names New CMO

Carter BloodCare, an AABB institutional member based in Texas, has welcomed Richard Gammon, MD, as the organization’s next chief medical officer. He assumed the role Aug. 29 following the retirement of Laurie J. Sutor, MD, MBA.

Gammon served most recently as medical director at One Blood in Orlando, Fla., a position he held for twelve years. He also has several academic appointments and is a widely published principal investigator on studies exploring many different aspects of blood banking and transfusion medicine.

He is also active with several national and international organizations, including AABB, where he serves as a volunteer assessor with international responsibilities. Gammon served previously as chair of AABB’s Blood Banks and Transfusion Services Standards Committee and chair of the Patient Blood Management Subsection. He is also a member of America’s Blood Centers and the International Society of Blood Transfusion.
