HRSA Seeks Feedback to Shape SCD Programs

December 18, 2024

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is seeking input from stakeholders — including health care professionals and organizations — to improve the agency’s sickle cell disease (SCD) programs.

HRSA’s current programs aim to strengthen the SCD system of care through patient education, evidence-based treatment and coordination across health care and community networks. The agency is now requesting feedback on the following topics:

  • Improving quality of life for individuals with SCD.
  • Addressing barriers to newborn screening follow-up care.
  • Ensuring successful transition from pediatric to adult care systems.
  • Enhancing systems of care that bridge health care and social services.
Stakeholder input will inform strategies to improve outcomes, identify best practices and address barriers to SCD care across the lifespan. Responses can address HRSA’s specific questions or offer broader insights.

Submissions are due Jan. 6. Instructions are available in the Dec. 6 Federal Register notice.
