WHO Releases New Guidance on Patient Blood Management

The World Health Organization (WHO) released
new guidance on Tuesday to provide a framework to implement patient blood management (PBM) policies at national and institutional levels. The guidance outlines strategies for detecting and treating anemia, minimizing blood loss and optimizing coagulation. It also seeks to equip policymakers, health care leaders and frontline professionals with tools to support blood health and patient safety.
