Vitalant Promotes Rob Van Tuyle to President and Chief Operating Officer

Vitalant, an AABB institutional member based in Arizona, announced the promotion of Rob Van Tuyle to the position of president and chief operating officer (COO) on Monday. As president and COO, Van Tuyle will oversee all aspects of Vitalant’s operations, including blood services, biotherapies, laboratory and clinical services, information technology, supply chain, and marketing and sales.

Van Tuyle most recently served as Vitalant’s COO, where he led efforts to improve operational efficiency and expand the organization’s biotherapies services. He previously led the Blood Services Division and the West Division, and earlier served as chief financial officer and then president and CEO of BloodSource, which merged with Vitalant in 2016.

Van Tuyle has also held leadership roles within the broader blood community. He is past president of America’s Blood Centers and a past president of the International Plasma and Fractionation Association, among others.
