AABB Thanks Assessors, Committee Volunteers During National Volunteer Week
April 23, 2025
In recognition of National Volunteer Week, taking place April 20-26, AABB extends heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to our network of volunteer assessors and committee members. These dedicated individuals contribute their time, expertise and passion to advance AABB’s mission and support the global transfusion medicine and biotherapies community.
With AABB-accredited facilities throughout the United States and around the world, AABB’s reach and impact are made possible by the tireless work of volunteers.
AABB assessors play an essential role in this effort, conducting independent assessments of a facility’s operations. Acting as AABB ambassadors, they help ensure quality and consistency while strengthening facility compliance and operations.
AABB assessors are experts in the field who lend their knowledge and skills to conduct domestic and international assessments of blood collection facilities, transfusion services, biotherapies services and relationship testing labs. They have been performing this essential function in facilities around the world for more than 65 years, beginning with the launch of AABB’s accreditation program in 1958. The program has since grown in size and scope thanks in part to the many contributions of AABB’s volunteer assessor network.
In addition to volunteer assessors, AABB’s
committee members are instrumental in guiding the Association’s activities, developing standards and policies and shaping the future of the field. These volunteers serve on a wide range of committees, task forces and working groups, lending their perspectives and expertise to drive innovation, address emerging challenges and promote donor and patient safety.
On behalf of the entire Association and our community, AABB thanks all our volunteers for their invaluable service and continued dedication to advancing our shared mission.
