Proposed 2nd Edition of Fundamental Standards for Blood Collection and Transfusion

The proposed Fundamental Standards for Blood Collection and Transfusion, 2nd edition is available for public comment from February 14 until April 15, 2025. The Fundamentals were developed by the Global Standards committee, based on the capabilities deemed appropriate for organizations in countries outside of the United States. The committee endeavored to create requirements that are universally applicable, and that are generally harmonized with requirements promulgated by different Competent Authorities throughout the world.

After the conclusion of the comment period, the Global Standards Committee will meet to review all comments submitted.

To Comment on the Proposed Fundamentals:

1. Submit comments by April 15, 2025 through the fillable form. Users can also submit comments via email to standards@aabb.org
2. Include name and postal address/fax number/email address, as appropriate.
3. Identify the standard by its number at the beginning of the comments. This identification is especially helpful if you comment on more than one standard.
4. Provide alternative wording if you think it would improve the clarity of a standard. If you agree or disagree strongly with a proposed change, please state your reasons or submit data.
