DRAFT 5th edition of Standards for a Patient Blood Management Program

The DRAFT 5th edition of Standards for a Patient Blood Management Program is available for public comment from June 25, 2024 until July 25, 2024.

After the conclusion of the DRAFT comment period, the Patient Blood Management Standards Committee will meet to review all comments submitted and create the proposed 5th edition of Standards for a Patient Blood Management Program.

Please note, the 5th edition Standards for a Patient Blood Management Program is currently in the creation phase, so we ask all individuals that wish to provide feedback to the Patient Blood Management Standards Committee to base their feedback on the 4th edition of Standards for a Patient Blood Management Program. If you require access to the 4th edition Standards for a Patient Blood Management Program, please reach out to AABB’s Standards Department for a two week trial in the Standards Portal.

This comment period does not replace the 60 day comment period for the proposed edition, the purpose of this comment period is to garner feedback on what topics should be covered in the proposed 5th edition of Standards for a Patient Blood Management Program. The 60 day comment period should begin in the Fall of 2024.

To Comment on the DRAFT Standards:

1. Submit comments by July 25, 2024 through the fillable form. Users can also submit comments via email to standards@aabb.org
2. Include name and postal address/fax number/email address, as appropriate.
3. Identify the standard by its number at the beginning of the comments.  This identification is especially helpful if you comment on more than one standard.
4. Provide alternative wording if you think it would improve the clarity of a standard.  If you agree or disagree strongly with a proposed change, please state your reasons or submit data.
